This 350-page manual offers a practical approach to the screening and treatment of comorbid conditions in individuals with HIV. Compared with the overall HIV-infected population in the United States, veterans with HIV are older, more likely to be members of minority groups, and more likely to have a history of substance use. VA clinicians must learn to prioritize and coordinate screening and treatment for important comorbid conditions while maintaining excellence in the care of HIV infection.

As the HIV epidemic matures, patients living with HIV are likely to experience a range of chronic conditions that are further complicated by comorbidity with HIV. The information in this manual is applicable not only to veterans, but also to an aging population of HIV-infected people in general.
